Yes, vendors at the UCCS Farmers Market can sell products under the Colorado Cottage Foods Act, provided they meet specific requirements.

Requirements for Cottage Food Vendors at UCCS Farmers Market

  1. Eligible Products: Only non-potentially hazardous foods that do not require refrigeration are permitted. 

    • Baked goods (excluding those with cream, custard, or cream cheese fillings)

    • Jams, jellies, and fruit preserves (excluding pepper jellies)

    • Honey

    • Dehydrated fruits and vegetables

    • Spices and teas

    • Nuts and seeds

    • Candies

    • Pickled fruits and vegetables with a finished equilibrium pH of 4.6 or below

    Products must be sold directly to consumers and cannot be resold through retail outlets.

  2. Packaging and Labeling: All cottage food products must be pre-packaged and labeled with:

    • Product name

    • Producer's name and address

    • Production date

    • Complete list of ingredients

    • Statement: "This product was produced in a home kitchen that is not subject to state licensure or inspection and that may also contain common food allergens." 

  3. Food Safety Training: Vendors must complete a food safety course approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), such as ServSafe.

  4. Vendor Application: Prospective vendors need to complete the UCCS Farmers Market application, which may require:

    • Proof of food safety training certification

    • Certificate of liability insurance

Pay with cash or with a credit/debit card in person on the day of the market. 

You can start setting up two hours before the market begins. 

Yes, we want our customers to enjoy a full market, so we ask all of our vendors to stay for the entire time. 

Per UCCS policy, we will shut down if there is lightning. You will be notified 24 hours in advance if we are expecting bad weather or at the time of the event.

Yes, you will need to provide your own tent, table, and chairs, unless you are a student vendor. UCCS student vendors will have access to tents, tables, and chairs provided at no extra cost to them. Supplies are limited, and reservations for the equipment must be requested when registering to become a vendor.
